A few years ago, the dream was just beginning to take shape. As a builder in Eastern CT, BROM recognized then that there was a resounding need for affordable housing in this area. It would take three years of applications, architectural designing and redesigning, and hundreds of hours of phone calls, questions and meetings to finally come together. The result is a development which incorporates the best of many aspects into a viable housing development.

With the formation of a partnership with the nonprofit Sheldon Oak Central, BROM was able to secure Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the CT Housing Finance Authority along with a special low-interest loan from the CT Dept. of Economic and Community Development. This funding allowed the dream to come to fruition. Small, Minority, Women-Owned and other DAS certified businesses were encouraged to submit bid proposals (AA/EOE).

The apartment complex was completed in the fall of 2010, and now 22 families enjoy spacious, energy-efficient, three-bedroom living quarters at an affordable cost.

Summitwoods II is designed to complement the nearby Summitwoods Apartments in both appearance and serviceability.
