About BROM
History
Throughout its history, BROM has built more than 650 custom homes. Here are some highlights from 1978 to present, as BROM celebrates its 30th year in business.
| 1978 | BROM Builders, Inc., was formed and officially incorporated in 1978 by three brothers: Joe, Mike and Rico Mastronunzio. |
| 1978-1984 | BROM began building custom homes in 1978. It completed numerous remodeling projects and rehabilitated a dozen separate multi-family dwellings containing a total of 40 units which catalyzed its real estate investment portfolio. During this period, BROM also completed a number of rehabilitation projects for the Community Development Offices in the towns of Groton, CT and Westerly, RI. |
| 1984 | BROM develops and rehabs three residential structures into condominium office space, one of which is now BROM headquarters at West Town Square in Norwich, CT. |
| 1985-1986 | BROM rehabs three surplus schools in the City of Norwich to become moderate income, multi-family rental housing. |
| 1987 | BROM builds Brookside Condominiums, 13 starter homes for young families in Norwich, CT. |
| 1988-1991 | BROM develops New Concord Green and builds a 48-unit luxury condominium community in Norwich, CT. BROM receives a 1988 Design Award for New Concord Green from the Home Builders Association of Connecticut. |
| 1990-1991 | BROM develops and builds a 120-unit apartment complex, Summitwoods Apartments, in Norwich, CT. Plans for expansion are under way. |
| 1991-1993 | BROM develops and builds the 24-unit Starrwoods Town Home community in Norwich, CT. |
| 1992 | BROM Builders is voted "Eastern CT's Best Builder" by Norwich Bulletin's Readers' Choice. |
| 1992-1994 | Twenty-eight (28) single-family, detached starter homes are developed and built by BROM in South Windsor, CT -- Peachbrooke, a Planned Unit Development. |
| 1994-1996 | A 10-lot subdivision of moderately priced homes -- Greenwich Court -- is developed and built by BROM in Norwich, CT. |
| 1995-1997 | BROM co-ventured a community of single-family custom homes on Kenwood Drive in Griswold, Ct. |
| 1997-2000 | BROM is invited to co-venture with another company and become the exclusive builder and marketer of 11 remaining lot/homes for the Doyle Road subdivision in Waterford, CT. |
| 2000-2003 | BROM is invited to co-venture with another company to develop and build on 12 of 24 available lots in Sablewoods, Ledyard, CT. |
| 2003-2006 | BROM signs on to build high-end custom homes for 16 of the 26-lot luxury home subdivision of Harvest Glen in East Lyme, CT. |
| 2004-2006 | BROM develops and builds an 8-lot luxury, custom home neighborhood -- Oxford Court, Mystic, CT. |
| 2006 | The Day of New London publishes, "Home Is Where Dad Is. BROM Builders brings family together," an article on helping a family build an accessible home in Mystic, CT (see slideshow). |
| 2006-Present | BROM establishes a new subdivision -- Cambridge Court -- of moderately priced custom homes in Colchester, CT. Development is under way. |
| 2009 | BROM begins construction of Summitwoods II, a 22-family apartment complex expected to be completed in the fall of 2010 in Norwich, Ct. |
| 2009 | BROM Builders, Inc., is the recipient of a 2009 Home Building Industry (HOBI) "Special Recognition" Award for a 4,135 square foot custom home in the East Lyme subdivision of Harvest Glen. |
